Race one of the 2014 METTS season.

Hello Everyone,

So today we had the first race of 2014 in Biddeford.  The Nor’Easter TT went well and fast.  We had a good group of hearty souls come out on the cold and blustery spring morning. I am waiting on the results to be emailed to me so I can post them, but you can follow this link to see them now. METTS Race #1 2014

Nor’Easter TT Just Over a Week AWAY!

Hi All,

Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop and hope that you’re all getting excited that the first race of 2014 is only 9 days away!

Here is some info from our race director Charles Melton.

“We are planning a packet pick up for the triathletes on Friday the 11th from 4-6:30  at Maine Running Co in Portland and again at the UNE Campus Center, on Hills Beach Rd in Biddeford, on Saturday the 12th from 4-6.  Time Trial athletes can come to either of these to complete the $40 paper registration.  They can also come on race morning from 7:30-8:15.”

Alison and I will be there to help out and we are very excited to see all of you and start the METTS season.

See you there,

What do you need to know for 2014?

Good Afternoon all you fellow TT nuts!   As you know we are only 13 days away from our first TT of the 2014 season, The Nor’Easter TT in Biddeford.  There are some good things that are happening and I want to make sure the word is out there for everyone to see.

During the off season a number of riders met with Alison and I to see what we could do to make the series better going forward.  There was some great ideas and we decided to embrace a couple of them.  The first is trying to obtain a timer for the season.  We are happy that we have found a great timer, Eric from Back 40 Timing. Eric will be covering most of the races for the year and we are thankful to have him onboard.

Another area that we wanted to make more competitive was the points system.  This year we are going to make it so the more you race the more likly you will be in contention for the series title.  We want to create a series that rewardsracers who commit to be at as many races as possible.  We also changed the number of points rewarded (see the METTS rules page for more information).  We are really looking forward to a fun and competitive points race.  We will also be awarding points for Merckx competitors.

We also want to address the starting order and create a way for the racer to know what to expect for every race in the series.  What will happen is the following:

Each race will set off with day of registrations to be followed by racers who registered online and start based on points status.

Racer number one will start in the reverse order as registered.  From race two forward starting order will be based on points.  This only applies to the racers who pre-register online.   If you choose to register the day of the event you will be slotted in for an earlier starting time.  These starting orders will apply to both divisions.  We are doing this to create a uniform format but also as an incentive to the racer and peace of mind for the race director who will have a better idea of how many racers to expect.

With change comes some bumps in the road.  Alison and myself hope that there are few but promise when they do occur that they will be addressed promptly.

See you soon.

Race Added to the Schedule

We are again happy to announce that the good folks as Central Maine Cycling Club will be hosting the Dick Williamson memorial TT in Poland.  As any of you know that have raced this course over the past two years it is a very challenging course with tough long climbs and fast decents.  This race has always been first class and I am confident that it will be again this year.  Also they will again be offering a two person TT!

For more information please refer to the CMCC website and BikeReg.com.

Here comes another one!

I am happy to announce that the Western Maine Velo Androscoggin Time Trial in Bethal will be back for 2014.  This will be the second year that Peter and his group will be part of the METTS and we are happy to have them back.  I am working with Peter to get a date in place and as soon as I have that I will get it up on the page and on BikeReg.  Last years race was very exciting and a great challenge and this year I am confident will be more of the same.

New Dates Added

Good Afternoon,

I am happy to announce that our schedule is starting to fill up. First off, I would like to welcome to the series the Nor’easter TT, supported by the good folks of the Nor’easter Reverse Tri. You can check out the course by following this link: http://www.noreaster-tri.com/CourseMaps.html.

We would also like to welcome back to the series Dave Richards. As we all know Dave brings a great deal of passion to the series and we welcome the return of China, Hinckley and Vassalboro. Dave is in the process of getting things put together and will be meeting with his group later this month. For now we are listing these races as pending. I will open them as soon as I get the word from Dave.

I am working on getting the races open for registration so they are available to you. If there are any questions about the series please let me know. As a side note I am hoping to add one or two more races to the schedule so keep a look out for new additions.
